My fees reflect the full scope of providing high-quality psychiatric care in an independent, out-of-network setting.
Psychiatry requires extensive training and ongoing professional obligations, including licensure, continuing education, and malpractice coverage. In addition, the practice carries the full cost of operations—office space, clinical systems, administrative support, and regulatory compliance.
Because I do not participate in insurance networks, I do not receive insurer subsidies or negotiated rates. The cost of care is supported directly through fees for service.
Why Private Pay
Choosing a private pay model allows care to be delivered without the constraints imposed by insurance companies.
Insurance-based care typically requires detailed diagnostic coding, standardized documentation, and the sharing of aspects of your medical record with third parties for reimbursement purposes. While these systems are designed to manage cost and access, they can also influence how care is documented and delivered.
In a private pay setting, treatment decisions are made directly between you and your physician. This allows for greater discretion, more flexibility in how care is approached, and a clinical process that is not shaped by external reporting requirements.
Privacy and Control
Mental health care often involves highly personal information. Under insurance-based models, portions of your record—including diagnoses and treatment details—may be shared with insurers and, in some cases, other entities involved in claims processing.
Private pay offers a higher degree of control over your information. Your care remains primarily between you and your physician, which can be especially important for those who value discretion or are navigating sensitive concerns.
A Note on Cost
I understand that out-of-pocket care represents a meaningful financial commitment.
Maintaining consistent fees is essential to the sustainability of the practice and to preserving the level of care I provide. This structure allows me to dedicate appropriate time, attention, and clinical focus to each patient, rather than working within externally imposed limits on visits or treatment.
Insurance Reimbursement
Patients are welcome to submit claims to their insurance carrier for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
I’m happy to provide the necessary documentation to support that process via monthly superbills. I cannot guarantee that any of my fees will be reimbursed by any given plan. It is the patient’s responsibility to work with their insurer if reimbursement is a material concern.
