Genevieve Williamson, M.D. is an independent, private psychiatric practice. We have chosen not to participate with insurance plans for several important reasons that directly support the quality of care we provide.
Insurance companies often limit the length, frequency, and type of treatment we can offer. They may also require extensive administrative approvals, diagnostic labels, and disclosures of sensitive personal information in order to determine coverage. These restrictions can interfere with clinical judgment and patient well-being, and can compromise your privacy.
By operating outside the insurance system, we are able to:
– Spend more time with each patient, without rushing appointments
– Offer personalized, evidence-based treatment tailored to your needs rather than insurance requirements
– Maintain your confidentiality by limiting the amount of information shared with third parties
– Avoid treatment decisions being influenced by insurance company policies or cost-containment strategies
– Provide direct access to your psychiatrist without additional layers of bureaucracy or delays
Many patients choose private psychiatric care because it allows for thoughtful evaluation, collaborative decision-making, and treatment that prioritizes long-term well-being over short-term procedural requirements.
You may still choose to submit receipts to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan offers this benefit. We are happy to provide the necessary documentation upon request via monthly superbills, although reimbursement by your insurance provider is not guaranteed.
Our goal is to provide the highest quality psychiatric care in a manner that respects your time, your privacy, and your individual treatment needs.
The only way to become a patient is to fill out the Waitlist Form. Email messages, voicemails, and text messages requesting new patient appointments will not be responded to. The waitlist is regularly reviewed, and if your needs align with the services offered in this practice, you will receive an invitation to the patient portal to complete intake paperwork and schedule an initial appointment when availability opens.
Please DO NOT send emails or call the practice to request a new patient appointment.
You can download my fee schedule here: https://www.drgenevievewilliamson.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/20260125_Fee-Schedule.pdf
My fees are set to reflect the full scope and cost of providing high-quality, ethical psychiatric care in an independent, out-of-network practice.
Psychiatry requires extensive education and training, as well as ongoing professional obligations, including licensure, continuing education, and malpractice coverage. In addition, my practice carries the full cost of operating expenses such as office space, clinical systems, administrative support, and compliance requirements. Because I do not participate with insurance networks in order to provide the best possible care for my patients, I do not receive insurer subsidies or negotiated rates; all costs of care must be supported directly through fees for service.
While I understand that out-of-pocket care represents a meaningful financial commitment, maintaining consistent fees is essential to the sustainability of the practice and to the quality of care I provide.
Patients are welcome to submit claims to their insurance carrier for potential out-of-network reimbursement, and we are happy to provide appropriate documentation to support that process.
My goal is to be transparent, fair, and consistent, while ensuring the long-term viability of the practice and the level of care my patients expect and deserve.
I also encourage patients to consider psychiatric care as a meaningful investment in long-term health and stability, comparable to other discretionary expenses that are commonly prioritized in everyday life. I believe that your mental and emotional well-being are worth the investment, and I work hard to honor that investment in the care that I provide.
My practice is unable to offer reduced fees outside of exceptional circumstances.

Reducing fees broadly would ultimately limit my ability to spend adequate time with patients, maintain appropriate systems and infrastructure, and operate in a way that meets professional and ethical standards.
For this reason, fee adjustments are reserved for individuals facing significant financial hardship, such as those who are indigent, disabled, or supporting a family on a very low income. Patients are welcome to submit claims to their insurance carrier for potential out-of-network reimbursement, and we are happy to provide appropriate documentation to support that process.
